Exodus 20:8

“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy."

The Israelites were enslaved to Egypt for more than 400 years. They never had the time to rest. They had to meet quotas, they had to make sure they got done whatever the Egyptians instructed them to. They did this because they had to for survival.

As the Israelites were led through the Red Sea God had a different plan for them. The fourth commandment he gave them was to set aside a day for rest the Sabbath. They were to set the day aside to rest and focus on God. To rest is not a request but a commandment. Make sure you take time this week to rest and 100% focus on the Lord. Always remember it's a marathon, not a race!
